Recognition Award Gala

Recognition Award Gala
Every year, the Recognition Award Gala marks the remarkable contribution of members of the Palais’ Ambassadors’ Club, and also honours new members joining the select group of people who passionately embrace promoting Montréal as a world-class city for hosting large-scale events.

2010 Recognition Award Gala

The Palais Recognition Awards Gala, slated for October 21, 2010 to coincide with the Ambassadors' Club's 25th anniversary, will once again provide the Palais with an opportunity to honour personalities who, through their efforts and personal involvement, helped secure a major international convention for the city.

This year, the Gala will also coincide with the first ever Rendez-vous du Savoir, a higher learning forum organized by the Palais, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ), the Conférence régionale des élus de Montréal (CRÉ), Montréal International and the city of Montréal. This event, which will be held October 20 and 21 at the Palais, will bring together the people who shape Québec's intellectual, economic and social development, for the purpose of advancing the debate on the main challenges, issues and opportunities that will define higher learning.

See Remembering the 2009 Gala for a quick retrospective of the evening.

International Recognition Award

Introduced in 2005 by the Palais des congrès de Montréal, the International Recognition Award honours an individual, an organization or a company whose involvement helped spark or orchestrate an event:

1. of international scope and reputation that promotes Montréal on the world stage; and
2. that contributes to the city’s ongoing development while enhancing its attraction as a world-class destination.

The 2009 recipient, the Montréal Canadiens hockey club, has become over its 100-year history a symbol of Montréal and the international recognition the city enjoys today. Thanks to 24 Stanley Cups, and the talented and even legendary players who have worn the “CH,” the Canadiens have helped promote Montréal beyond the ice rinks of the National Hockey League. Our Habs have spread the love of the game to numerous countries, and have elevated Montréal to the leading ranks of world hockey capitals.

Pierre Boivin, President of the Montréal Canadiens hockey club and Gillett Entertainment Group, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
