« Impeccable ! »

The International Diabetes Federation recently wrapped up its 2009 IDF 20th World Diabetes Congress, which ran from October 18 to 22 at the Palais. This huge event was orchestrated by Luc Hendrickx, the IDF’s congress director. He explains how the Palais successfully hosted a sweeping contingent of 12,000 participants.

“Impeccable is the word. It’s been a fantastic, excellent experience. The real stars of the congress have been the Palais and the people who supported our work,” says Hendrickx. “One of the best congresses we’ve ever done!”

Several factors favoured Montréal during the host city selection process. “The proximity to Europe and the proximity to the United States, the two languages that are spoken here, the cultural richness, and of course, the fantastic facilities of the Palais,” lists Hendrickx. “A very, very easy convention centre to work in.”
